  2. Consideration of Preliminary Site Plan Approval - Great Oaks Office Park Planned Unit Development - 100, 200, 300 Great Oaks Boulevard

The Planning Board will discuss extending the date for preparing and filing the FEIS pursuant to New York State code 6 CRR-NY 617.9.a.5.ii.a.

If extended the deadline to prepare and file the FEIS would be extended up to an additional 45 days (August 24, 2020).  The GCRG expects this extension to be granted.

Semi-Virtual Planning Board Meeting

There are 6 projects on the agenda for the Guilderland Planning Board for this meeting.  Be careful when downloading the Planning Board Meeting Agenda and Packet - June 24, 2020 because it is 179 pages long.  The town has returned to combining all documents for all the 6 projects on the agenda into 1 large "agenda packet".

The first item on the agenda is for a public hearing for a 2-lot subdivision of 745 Route 146, Altamont.  We discussed this project at our last GCRG Steering Committee meeting because there are concerns for wetlands and proximity of the property to historic Knowersville.  See these comments from a neighbor for more information.

There are 2 other projects on this agenda of significant interest as well

  1. The consideration for preliminary approval of the Great Oaks Office Park Planned Unit Development (PUD).
The applicant is seeking a preliminary approval for a proposed change in zoning of 16.3 +/- acres from a Business Non-Retail Professional (BNRP) District to a Planned Unit Development (PUD) District to allow construction of 120 apartment units in two separate buildings within the Great Oaks Office Park.
  2. A site plan review for a Special Use Permit to build a Independent Living Residential Facility by Serafini Builders, Inc. at 2965 West Old State Road.
This is a referral from the Zoning Board of Appeals for a site plan review of a 12 unit Independent Living  Residential Facility on 1.1 acres in a Business Non-Retail Professional (BNRP) District. The Planning Board will review and discuss possible recommendations to the Zoning Board of Appeals.

Semi-Virtual Planning Board Meeting

There are 7 projects being considered at this meeting of the Guilderland Planning Board and the first 2 have public hearings.  Virtually every project on the agenda has some issue of concern in varying degree from protecting an undisturbed dune in the Pine Bush, wetlands on several properties, and large development sprawl in Western Guilderland off Fuller Station Road and Old State Road.

Please see this page on the GCRG website for short comments for each project on details page for this meeting.

The town has changed how they are compiling the documents for projects and creating the agenda again.  The agenda document for this meeting consists of cryptic links to other PDF documents for each project.

The good news is that the town is longer putting all the documents for all of the projects into a single file, but you still can't find documentation for a given project directly on the town's website and each document for a project is in a separate file again when you do find it.  The only place apparently that you can get the links to the project files ais from the meeting agenda pdf.  Hopefully we can get the town to eventually have a dedicated page on the Town's website for each project with all relevant information for that project.

Pursuant to Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order 202.8, which bans large meetings due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), and Executive Order 202.1, which suspends the Open Meetings Law, the meeting will be held electronically via conference call instead of a public meeting open for the public to attend in person.  Members of the public may listen and view the meeting live on Verizon channel 34 and Spectrum channel 1303, on the Town website, and may dial (518) 579-3721 to participate in a conference call.

Planning Board Meeting - March 11, 2020

The Guilderland Planning Board had originally scheduled a public hearing for March 11, 2020 at 6:00pm, but due to the hearing notice not being published on time in the Altamont Enterprise, the hearing is expected to be rescheduled to March 25 at this meeting.

For more information, see our page on the development on Rapp Road, the Mall Ring Road and Western Avenue and please start sending your public comments in now, even if it is just to ask for more public comment period time.

Planning Board Meeting - February 12, 2020

At this meeting, the Guilderland Planning Board accepted the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) as complete and decided that the public comment period would officially commence on February 20, 2020 after the latest updated version of the DEIS was posted on the Town's website.

The Planning Board aslos scheduled a public hearing for the DEIS to be held at their March 11, 2020 meeting starting at 6:00 PM.

However, notice for the public meeting was not published in the Altamont Enterprise until February 27th, so the public hearing for the DEIS will be rescheduled for March 25, 2020 at 6:00PM

An agenda item will be included on the March 11, 2020 Planning Board agenda for the Board to consider rescheduling the public hearing to March 25th. Additionally, the Board will also consider extending the public comment period to April 10, 2020, which would allow a total of 50 days of public comment, where 30 days is the required minimum.
