GCRG Virtual Meeting

At this meeting of the GCRG we will be discussing the following:

  1. Development Planning Mtg. - July 21st ? TBD
  2. Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting - Wednesday, July 21st, 7:00 pm
    1. 319 Danielle Drive, Schenectady, NY 12203. Area variance #4839 to permit the construction of a single family dwelling beyond the required rear yard setback from other properties.
      • Why would you care?  Setbacks protect residents from sightline and physical obstructions and sound buffers. As we understand it, the property ownership is the builder and the builder alleges he was unaware of codes when he plotted a residential dwelling for his client to propose a master bedroom that, if approved, will encroach into the rear backyard setback. If granted, a neighbor is looking at the loss of approximately 25’ sound and/or sight buffer between their house and backyard and a neighbor’s master bedroom.  Setbacks are set to preserve quality of life and reasonable property owner expectations for their neighborhoods.
      • Question:  Do you trust the fair enforcement of town codes?
    2. 2060 Western Avenue. Dunkin Donuts in Hamilton Square. Special Use Permit #4840 - amendment for the conversion of a take-out restaurant to a drive-through restaurant.  The Albany County Planning Board recommended in 12/2020 Case #: 10-201203611 that:
      1. The one-way accesses parallel to the drive through be evaluated since the current direction will create more cars passing through the front of the store.
      2. The Town of Guilderland Planning Board consider adding stop signs at the three-way intersection at the proposed trash enclosure.
      • Why should you care?  Traffic conditions on Western Avenue and within the Shopping Plaza.
  3. Review of Public Comments during the 7/13/2021 Town Board Meeting
  4. Review of The Friends of the Mahicantuck work to protect Troy’s last forest along the Hudson
  5. Continued Discussion of Public Notice and participation
