Residents of the Guilderland and Altamont community are in opposition to the development of an industrial solar array with over 10,000 panels on a 61-acre property adjacent to the Orchard Creek Golf Course and Altamont Orchards.

This array will irreparably ruin the unique and historic view of the Helderberg Escarpment.

The Town Comprehensive Plan establishes a priority of preserving the open view sheds of the Helderberg escarpment to protect the views specifically and also for purposes of open space, future economic development consistent with and furthering agricultural uses, and maintaining the unique character of this portion of Town. 

The project has passed its first hurdle in the planning board and has now gone to the Village of Altamont Referral Committee. From there it will go to the Guilderland Zoning Board of Appeals. 

We support solar -- just not in this iconic spot.

Most urgently we need to provide comments on a new proposed local law to amend zoning laws for large industrial solar arrays.
